July 13th we headed to East Canyon Lake with Shane's family. It was POURING in the morning, but there were blue skies to the East (where we were heading), so we decided to go anyway. We got there around 10:30 and the rain stopped as we were driving up the final curve. :)

None of the kids could have cared less about the boat and/or wave runners. All they wanted to do was play in the sand.

It was a L-O-N-G day! We didn't leave until 5:30 and I was fried to a crisp.

They were both really asleep about three minutes after I took these pictures and started driving.
And now, for the second degree sunburn:

I put sunscreen on the kids, but didn't bother with myself since I knew I'd be in the shade most of the day.
Lesson. Learned.
As for the kids, I got a sunscreen stick for their faces since they always complain when I spray it in my hands and rub it all over their faces. Well, they didn't complain with the stick, but it didn't run at all, either. Which ended up being bad. By the evening you could see exactly where I did and didn't use the stick.

In my defense, it said not to apply near their eyes!! I obviously didn't. Or half of their faces, either, apparently.
My sunburn blistered. And then my blisters got blisters (wish I was kidding). The slightest pressure would send me screaming in pain. The kids learned how to hug me without touching my shoulders AT ALL. I was sent home early from work Monday because I couldn't even lift my arms without wincing (I promise I wasn't just being a baby about it). I had to buy a tank top that was a size too big so that it wouldn't come anywhere near touching my burn.
A week later, I could lift my arms almost to shoulder level, and this is how it looked:

It's now been a week and a half and my shoulders still look like I was sunburned TODAY. After the first layer peeled off, the next layer began it's process. From what I was told, the burn was so deep that each level that was burned will have to go through the process to heal. Which is why it's taking so long. The good news is I can full raise my arms again and it's almost completely pain-free when someone or something touches my shoulders. So, again, lesson learned.
