Shane's sister, Valerie, is my age. We went to junior high and high school together, although we never ran with the same circle of friends. Now that she's my sister-in-law, though, we love each other. ;) No, really, though, she's awesome and we've bonded. Anyway, Val's husband, Bryan, and their daughter, Ryley have the same birthday: January 5th. We always do a combined party with the emphasis being on Ryley (at Bryan's insistence). Anyway, Ryley chose a princess pirate theme this year and Val did such a good job with it. Everything turned out so cute.

It was a great party (with two cakes!) and my kids never wanted to leave Ry's house. Other kids always have better toys than theirs. Even if it's the same toys.
